Hello All, I looked through the search function and for the most part, people have only discussed the CD reissues, so I thought I'd start a place for discussion of their vinyl, plus get some opinions. What are people's thoughts on the Rhino Reissue vinyl vs. The original press of Power, Corruption and Lies? Is there a difference between the sound quality, etc from the original US press (included 2 additional songs, making 10 total) vs.

The UK press (8 total tracks)? In general what's the best what to hear New Order's music? Best pressings for albums? Good question - but there are so many pressings to explore, you wont find a 'definitive' answer here nor on any of the New Order fan websites. Some of the pressings of PC&L here: None of their recordings are 'audiophile' with some of Movement and Brotherhood coming close (but no cigar.) I haven't heard the Rhino reissue vinyl, but I'd consider it if I could find a copy locally. My US Qwest beats out my Sweden Factory and US Factus versions easily.

The deadwax states it was mastered at Precision. Pressing is Specialty plant. All original vinyl pressings of PC&L are 8 tracks only. It was only the US cd reissues of the late 80's that contained the two bonus tracks. In general, I'd go for the UK originals if I could find them in Mint-, but most will have been played to death on poor vinyl rigs. Maybe scratch-free, but dead sound (I know from ePay experiences.) If you live in the US, the Qwest pressings are very good - for all their lp's - especially if you can find one sealed or in Mint- condition. Rhino has such a poor track record.

Do some searching here in the forums for about the Tom Waits Rhino reissues. They also royally screwed up the New Order CD reissues. I had the Rhino Unknown Pleasures and Closer pressings and they were really poorly mastered and manufactured.

I returned my copy of Unknown Pleasures to Dr. Rhino and received a copy that was worse than the one I sent. I was going to sell them both but felt it was unconscionable to take money from a person in exchange for them.

I only wish Rhino felt the same way. Go for the originals. All my New Order U.S. Pressings sound great. Rhino has such a poor track record. Do some searching here in the forums for about the Tom Waits Rhino reissues.

My New Order US Qwest lp's are among the better sounding to my ears. Even better than the rare US FACTUS pressings (which were allegedly pressed in Germany.) But the FACTUS are good in their own right. Much warmer than any other, so depending on the tonality of your system you might prefer them. The UK PC&L is supposed to be the one to beat, but beware the Swedish MNM (small MNM on the label) pressing. It's good, but not as the Qwest or UK.

IIRC, the US Qwest was mastered from excellent tapes and is easier to find in NM condition. My go to copy for Low-life is also the US Qwest. I have a first UK pressing that's just not as good - but purchased the UK used, so it may be worn even though it looks new. Brotherhood is great on early UK Factory, but again I prefer the early US Qwest pressings.

Movement has the great sound, to my ears, on the early UK. Haven't heard the US FACTUS or Qwest. FACTUS 8, pressed in Canada, is one of my favorites, and I prefer it to the UK 12' originals - and the cd is better than any of their other comps for sound quality. The Italian Base Records copper cover Ceremony 12' is nothing less than jaw-dropping. I'm reluctant to post this as I'd like a second copy.

The bass is incredible! Will challenge your system. Click to expand.I hate to say it, but there are a slew of 'em out there. I returned several copies for new ones, and they were all off-center. I know several other people (everyone I know personally who bought either of them) whose copies were off-center as well. For all I know, all of them could be bad pressings, given that I have yet to find a good one.

So yeah, I'm warning people that there may be a good chance the album will be off-center. Other than the off-center problem, these albums sound good - but it's pretty difficult to get past the wavering pitch. Does anyone know much about Low Life on vinyl?

I have two in a record shop near me, both very cheap. First one is the original pressing as the sleeve has the onion skin around it (which looks awful as it has dried up - typical Factory hey).

The vinyl with this one is awfully thin, but it has MPO FAC 100 DMM. The second copy comes in a normal cardboard sleeve with cardboard inner and looks a lot nicer. The vinyl is also much thicker too, but the matrix is confusing, as I'm sure the FAC has a line through it, like it's been crossed out. I suspect both with be DMM. Which one should I get?

Well the kind shop owner let me take both vinyl home to try before I buy. After Moth cleaning them both I've just given them both a listen. I've just found out that one of them is on the Factory Benelux label. The label reads Fbn 100 and the matrix run out is FBN F̶A̶C̶ 100-A1-C CAI.

The benelux version has the tracing paper cover, although it is in a bit of a state. Make The Teacher Walk The Plank Game History. The other version has just a normal cardboard sleeve cover, although the tracing paper might have been lost as some point, but I know that some were released with no tracing paper. Anyway the record matrix reads MPO FAC 100 A5x DMM, so it looks like a Factory original UK manufactured.

It also mentions DMM in the groove and the vinyl is a lot thicker than the Factory Benelux version. Anyway the DMM Factory original UK slays the Benelux version.
